TOUR & ACCOMMODATION BOOKING CONDITIONS

THE BOOKINGS

All bookings and the subsequent contracts shall be deemed to have been concluded in Johannesburg, South Africa and shall be interpreted according to the laws of the Republic of South Africa.  Any legal action shall be undertaken in the Supreme Court within Gauteng Province.

All prices and services are correct at the time of printing, but all prices and services are subject to change without any prior notice.

Africa Zoo Lodge Backpackers reserves the right to increase their fees due to any increasing tariffs, costs and entry fees or fluctuation of exchange rates.

Africa Zoo Lodge Backpackers reserves the right to use any photographs and films taken during your stay or while on tours for use in a brochure or any other advertising material. The client agrees that it shall not hold Africa Zoo Lodge Backpackers liable in any way.

Africa Zoo Lodge Backpackers will not accept any booking where the booking form is unsigned or incomplete.  (This includes incomplete payment details)

No booking can be considered confirmed until a faxed confirmation slip has been received by the agent/client.

CANCELLATIONS

If a booking is cancelled, Africa Zoo Lodge Backpackers shall retain the full deposit. If a booking is cancelled less than twenty eight (28) days before the tour departure date or commencement of the accommodation or service, then the client is subject to a cancellation fee as follows:

22  -  28 Days    40  %  of total fare.
15  -  21 Days    60  %  of total fare.
 8   -  14 Days    80  %  of total fare.
 0   -    7 Days  100  %  of total fare.

If the full account is not paid within twenty one days prior to departure, Africa Zoo Lodge Backpackers reserves the right to treat the booking as cancelled.

Passengers booking within that period (one month) need to pay the balance immediately to secure the seat. Any passenger that joins a tour after the departure date, or not at all or leaves before the completion of the tour is not liable for any claims on Africa Zoo Lodge Backpackers.

Africa Zoo Lodge Backpackers shall in no circumstances be held liable for any refunds of any sort due to any reasons whatsoever. Nor shall it be held responsible for any damages that may occur on tour or during your stay at any of the accommodation providers, tour companies or any vendor listed on the Backpack Africa Internet's websites.

Africa Zoo Lodge Backpackers reserves the right to cancel any tour or accommodation without prior notification. However in this instance, Africa Zoo Lodge Backpackers does agree to refund all moneys already paid by all clients. This shall be Africa Zoo Lodge Backpackers's sole responsibility to the client.

PASSPORTS, VISAS AND OTHER TRAVEL PAPERS

It is the client's sole responsibility to ensure that their passports, visas, vaccinations and any other required papers are all in order in terms of the countries to be visited. Africa Zoo Lodge Backpackers cannot be held liable for any consequences if any of these matters are not correctly attended to.

INSURANCE

Comprehensive travel and cancellation insurance is mandatory on all tours and accommodation. It is the client's responsibility to ensure that they have this paperwork. Any resulting consequence of not having this paperwork is the sole responsibility of the client.

BAGGAGE

All baggage and personal effects are at all times the client's responsibility and Africa Zoo Lodge Backpackers cannot accept any liability for any loss or damage of any personal effects.

ACCIDENT

Although every precaution is taken to ensure the safety of all clients, Africa Zoo Lodge Backpackers shall not be held responsible for any death or injury or loss to any person as a result of any reasons whatsoever.

HEALTH

The client realizes that to participate in any of the tours or accommodation listed on the Africa Zoo Lodge Backpacker's websites, requires a measure of physical fitness and health and it is the client's obligation to ensure that he or she is medically fit enough to embark on the tour or holiday.

AUTHORITY ON TOUR

At all times the decisions of the operators guide or driver will be final. The client must at all times comply with the laws, customs and foreign exchange regulations of all countries visited. Should the client be detected in any contravention of the above or be a nuisance to the group the driver/guide may order the client to leave the tour without any right to a refund or any liability to Africa Zoo Lodge Backpackers. The client shall be obliged to make their way home at their own expense.

FORCE MAJEURE

Unforeseen circumstances due to war, mechanical breakdowns, weather, riots and other unforeseen reasons beyond the control of Africa Zoo Lodge Backpackers may cause delays or alterations to the accommodation, car rental, tour or any service offered on the Africa Zoo Lodge Backpackers website.

Africa Zoo Lodge Backpackers will not be held liable in any way for any of these possible occurrences.

Africa Zoo Lodge Backpackers – Terms and Conditions - Rules and Regulations.

1.        Right of admission is reserved. Any person who misbehaves himself/herself to the judgment of the management or any of staff members of Africa Zoo Lodge Backpackers, has to leave the premises on request. Admission / accommodation fees will not be refunded and will result in immediate expulsion from the property and simultaneous cancellation of the booking.

2.     All facilities at Africa Zoo Lodge Backpackers are used at own risk, especially the swimming pool. Africa Zoo Lodge Backpackers does not accept responsibility for any injuries or damage which may be a result of utilising the facilities or any other injuries or damage visitors may suffer at Africa Zoo Lodge Backpackers and the guest accepts as his/her own risk with no recourse to Africa Zoo Lodge Backpackers, the owner and/or employee/s of the property and the lodge.

5.     All guests and or their visitors are responsible to provide their own insurance coverage.

6.     Residents are responsible for the conduct and safety of their visitors at all times. Visitors to sign visitors book at all times. No visitors are allowed after 22h00. No tenant may have more than FIVE visitors at any given time. All visitors are not allowed to access to your room. No visitors are allowed to remain in the building or on the premises without you present. You will be wholly responsible and financially liable for any damage caused by your visitors. Visitors hours: - 09h00 to 22h00 at night.

7.     Visitors are requested to honour the peace and tranquillity of the Lodge environment at all times and not to play loud music or musical instruments. Guests are specifically prohibited to play loud music anywhere on the lodge premises after 22h00 unless prior arrangements have been made with management. Any relaxation of any of the Rules by any authorised person on behalf of Africa Zoo Lodge Backpackers does not mean that a change or relaxation of any Rule has occurred.

8.     No eating or drinking is allowed in any of the rooms or dormitories or in the swimming pool. No alcoholic beverages may be taken into or the area around the swimming pool.  No littering of any kind. No loud shouting or screaming is allowed.  Respect the tranquillity and cleanliness of the area.

9.     Fires may only be made in the braai facilities provided.  No wood may be gathered from the property.  Bring your own firewood/charcoal, which may also be for sale.

10.   Rude language and swearing are not allowed.  Any form of conduct by a guest/s, which in the opinion of management compromises the property or enjoyment of the lodge by other guests, will result in immediate cancellation of the booking and expulsion from the property, without any refund. 

11.   No smoking in the rooms or common areas (TV Room, Dining Room, Kitchen, etc.) is allowed. Guests found smoking in non-smoking areas will be asked to leave and the booking cancelled.

12.   Visitors are responsible for all Africa Zoo Lodge Backpackers equipment/property they use and have to pay for any breakage/damage during their visit. Visitors are responsible for all damages caused to the property of the lodge.  A R150.00 key deposit is payable on arrival. All visitors are asked to immediately report any breakage or fault on/to the premises to management.

13.   Any contravention of any of the conditions contained in this document will result in immediate cancellation of the booking and expulsion from the resort without notice plus possible action for damages.

14.   We reserve the right to amend or change these Rules at any time as circumstances dictate.

15.   If your stay is for 5 days or longer, a change of bedding will take place on day 7.

16.   Remember:  Acts of God/Natural disasters/Bad weather/ Eskom power outages etc. and the discomfort associated therewith are not within our control!  

17.   No pets (dogs, cats, birds or any other) are allowed.

18.   Washing can be done for you at a cost of R40.00 per load. The washing must be given to the responsible staff member. It will be washed hung to dry and folded. No ironing is included in the price.

19.   Use of the outside braai area must be co-ordinated with management. When using the outside area, or having a braai or a party the area should be left clean and tidy at all times.

20.   The kitchen is only to be used to cook for guests staying at Africa Zoo Lodge Backpackers. Dishes must be washed by tenants after every use and packed away. Tenants will provide their own dishwashing liquid. Cleaning staff are not permitted to wash guest’s dishes at any time.
